Forest Education Foundation and FPA Share Bright Ideas for Science Week

The FPA and Forest Education Foundation teamed up to provide an engaging experience for attendees of Festival of Bright Ideas (FOBI).

Over 5000 visitors had the opportunity to dress up like an FPO and conduct a miniature forest survey by searching for 'special values' like native animals and cultural artefacts. The geology station was a big hit, with FPA's geo expert, Adrian Slee donning caving gear and 'rock-ing out' about rocks. Visitors could also play 'Match That Scat' or spend a quiet moment sketching a wedge-tailed eagle. The team hoped to convey that forests are much more than just trees and that many aspects of science are used to learn more about them.

The event is held annually in Hobart during Science Week in August and has been a great attraction for science lovers, young and old. The FPA would like to thank Kate Battishall and Darcy Vickers from  FEF and the FPA FOBI team, Anne Chuter, Angela Gardner, Chris Grove, Adrian Slee, and Laurel Trebilco for putting on a fantastic Science Week event.
